Jahrhunderts. Die Autoren stellen ihre Figuren dabei in Verstrickungen zwischen zwei gleichberichtigten hoefischen Pflichten, einander ausschliessenden Wertvorstellungen oder zwischen unterschiedlichen Gefahrensituationen dar. Das Dilemma ist nicht nur ein spannendes Erzahlmittel, sondern ermoeglicht den Autoren philosophische, religioese oder gesellschaftskritische UEberlegungen in ihre Romane einzubinden. Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit werden im 'Yvain' (Chretien de Troyes), im 'Erec' (Hartmann von Aue), im 'Iwein' (Hartmann von Aue), im 'Daniel' (Der Stricker) und im 'Wigalois' (Wirnt von Grafenberg) dilemmatische Zwangslagen analysiert. Dabei wird auf die Entstehung der Dilemmata, auf die Ansiedelung der Situationen im Handlungsverlauf der Erzahlung, auf die Moeglichkeiten der UEberwindung und auf den Zweck dieser Darstellungen eingegangen. Das Dilemma wird dabei im Rahmen der Gewissensdiskussion dieser Zeit und der Individualitatsdarstellung im Artusroman abgehandelt.
