This is the earliest commercially released glimpse into David Allan Coe's honky tonk side, not evidenced on his first two releases,Penitentiary Blues(a blues album that owes a lot to Screamin' Jay Hawkins)and Requiem for a Harlequin(the painfully rare 1st LP with a strong Mickey Newbury influence that criss-crosses genres before it was cool). These are songwriting demo's made when he was an in-house songwriter for Steel Guitar great Pete Drake, but these are all top notch and a must for any true DAC fan.there is even a song recorded in DAC's living room with his son Tyler,on guitar...Also includes a dvd filmed circa 1969/1970 when he was on Shelby Singleton's label. This is definitely essential in my opinion and maybe it help give a little bit more exposure to one country's most criminally overlooked songwriters.Read full review
A must have for David Allan Coe fans, it is a real treat. David is honestly in my opinion a lyrical genius.
