I bought this book for a unit on Famous Scientists. My fifth graders love learning about unknown inventors and the interesting stories that surround inventions. This book gave us just that. The enteries are alphabetical, short, informative, and fun! The students especially liked the popsicle, yo-yo, and potato chip chapters. Also, I was able to skip around in the book since it's not chronological. I do have one minor suggestion...fifth graders cannot handle the "bikini" chapter, so avoid it.
I teach an invention unit at the third grade level and this is perfect for them to get a brief overview of many different inventions. Several of them are about how kids were the inventor so it reinforces what I try to teach: they are scientists and can do important things, too, even at their young age. Excellent book!!
