About this product

Product Information

Viktor Taransky (Al Pacino) is a washed-up director. The beautiful Nicola (Winona Ryder), has just walked off the set of his last film, and the head of the studio--who also happens to be his ex-wife (Catherine Keener)--has just cancelled his contract. Just as a virtually hopeless Taransky is left wondering what is wrong with Hollywood, inventor Hank Aleno (Elias Koteas) presents him with a bombshell: a virtual actress. Created from computer code, Hank's invention--deemed S1M0NE from the abbreviated Simulation 1 and morphed into Simone for the masses--is beautiful, talented, and breathtakingly real. Soon, Taransky is editing Simone's image into his films and creating masterpieces. He devises elaborate schemes to make Simone appear to be human, all the while masterminding her every move. As Simone becomes an international superstar, a bewildered Taransky is left to wonder how real Simone actually is and how much power she has over him. But his attempts to sabotage her career only drag him further into the media frenzy that his creation attracts. Written and directed by Andrew Niccol (GATTACA), S1M0NE proves to be an interesting and insightful look at the movie business and the star-hungry media.

Great experience doing business with this seller. The item’s picture was slightly misleading as it looked like you were receiving a larger mug, but that was just the angle the photo was taken. The item’s description was correct. Shipping cost was high; 11.60 to ship an 8oz coffee mug ground (took 6 days). Packaging was awesome, I mean, there is absolutely no way my item was going to break in transit All in all, I would not hesitate to work with this seller again. Thank you Gargs Store!

The item was very well packaged against damage. Shipping was quick and reasonably priced. The planner is in mint condition apart from some light rust on the rings that I failed to see in the pictures. HOWEVER, they accepted my discounted offer, which is more than adequate compensation, AND the rust should easily come off with a light fine steel wool brushing. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE SELLER!... and would easily buy from them again.

Pacino is always the best, but this slightly science fiction film could be true in a few short years. Pacino's character is a director that gets his hands on a program that can create a lifelike actress and he passes her off as real. Great laughs, acting, and story line make this one you can watch several times.

Quick shipping really great condition. We watched this video last night and LOVED IT! One of those movies you hear very little about, love the original story, not like what is being made today with sequels that don't go anywhere. And to top it off this movie had a great ending. No spoilers here. Thank you SecondSalecom.

  • Different type of plot and Al P. Was great.

I saw this movie in 04 and enjoyed the concept of the story and enjoyed it again with a friend from Germany and she liked it also. If someone that has to translate it and gets it and enjoys it, I say it is a winner. Al Pacino was great as always.

  • Interesting flick.

This film was intriguing in its exploration of reality, and for that reason, I found it enjoyable. It might have been the director's intention to convey the abstract-ness of the world of the computer age and virtual reality. I have to admit, however, I missed the passionate taste of life in this film. The characters were too cardboard and shallow in nature. The story didn't penetrate enough into the spirit and passion of what it means to be human; and for that reason, the film's experience left me wanting. But then again, that may have been the director's intent to communicate such a lifeless and empty world.

  • Simone is so unexpected!!!

I just loved watching Simone. Who would have ever thought that having a computer simulated actress in a movie was brilliant! This movie is funny one moment and the next your holding your breath, waiting,... watching to see what happens next. I would recommended this movie to my friends, family, and to everyone else. Al pacino, plays a director/moviemaker... tired of dealing with tempermental actresses and actors, stumbles apon a goldmine. A computer program that can take the place of any moody actress he wants. Introducing SIMONE! He tries to keep her a secret from the world and not reveal that she's only a computer program in his movie and not really a real woman, acting in those scenes. But eventually he gets to the point where he wants to tell the truth about Simone. But no one believes ...
