The DMC-LZ20 incorporates a 25-525 mm. zoom lens (35mm camera equivalent). The Extra Optical Zoom function that extends zoom power to 48.5x (at 3-megapixel resolution) by using the centre part of the 16-megapixel high resolution CCD to bring subjects even closer. Not only drawing near the subject distant away with its powerful optical zoom the 25 mm. Ultra-wide angle lens captures approx. 196% wider angle of view compared with a standard 35 mm camera. It is helpful for shooting dynamic landscape or indoor group portrait.

    Excellent 'next step' camera

    If you are looking for a camera that does just that bit more than a compact digital camera, but you don't need or want a full digital SLR, then this fits the bill. It is a 'bridge camera', which means it has many of the functions of an SLR, but you can't change the lens. I chose this camera as a present because my friend was trying to take pictures beyond the capability of her existing camera. She is delighted with it; the ease of use, the quality of the pictures, the 21x zoom, that it uses 4 AA rechargeable batteries, its relatively small size and the range of features. Yes, she still keeps her Canon SureShot to use as a 'snapshot' camera – it is smaller and fits in a small bag – but she is now preferring to use the Lumix more and more as she gets used to it.     I got this camera without instruction manual and was able to use its basic features immediately. Posting Panasonic got me a manual to download. This camera is feature packed ,yet easy to use, point in question is the intelligent focus feature ,set camera to this ,point at subject and camera will automatically focus to give you best picture. Their are plenty of features for the more advanced user: 21x optical zoom, video is simply a matter of selecting it from the features on the top of the camera, macro feature is excellent. All in all a lovely camera can be used by the complete novice to the more advanced user. .highly recommended by myself and other users.
