I was born in 1967 in the midwestern USA. I grew up having my mind blown by the sounds of the Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Moby Grape, Country Joe and the Fish. Then when I finally discovered a little band called the Grateful Dead, there was no looking back. It became a quest for that one moment of paradise that was found and lost so quickly in the mid 60s in the City By The Bay. For a short time around 1966/1967, San Francisco was the center of the universe. It probably was the Monteray pop Festival in 1967 when it all peaked and was down hill ever since. Over crowding, bad drugs, scary people, violence, and even murder! It all seemed so innocent, but loosing touch with reality can be a pivitol life changing experience and it can also become very scary and lonely. Whatever it was, it was intense. It was important and it DID happen. I always had hoped to stumble on to a copy of this underground news paper that cronicaled those exciting times. Now, here you have every last issue on one small digital disk. The artwork, the opinion pieces, the ads for the concerts, the Human Be-In advertisements, the back page ads. It's ALL here. Literally a "snap-shot" back into time. Read what the people back then were reading. What they were writing about. What they thought at the time. How they saw things playing out in their minds. If the 60s culture interests you, you should check this out. Perhaps only in London was anything of equal importance going on at the time. This has all the music information but goes way beyond that. Lots of reading and getting into the mind set of the authors who were there. These are the people who lived there at the time and created this paper. Who knew that we would be looking back at such a different world. It must have been so exciting to be able to see the Airplane, the Dead and Buddy Guy for $3.00 on any given night down at the Avalon Ballroom. But the music was only part of it. This community of people believed that they were changing the world, and THEY DID! They changed my world. For better or for worse, who knows. But now you can study the facts and learn about it for yourself on a deeper level than ever before. Thank you to "who-ever" it was that saved these priceless documents. It was such an important time in American History. Parts of these papers should be included in History books. They are a history book in themselves in a way. What more can I say. For pennies, you can read them for yourself. Take a trip back in time and see what the summer of love was like in the eyes of those who were there. This is a MUST READ for anyone who has been touched by "The Summer of Love" and the message that the Human Be-In was shouting out for all humanity to hear. This is it, all on one disc. What an amazing and wonderful piece of history preserved for all to see. Thanks -drkstrcrashes-Read full review
