    Great system, particularly for amateurs like me!

    I needed to rake about 5 square metres of wall for re pointing and a friend loaned me a disc cutter. I saw this rake and thought it must be better than a disc and it is - a lot better! I used 8mm and 10mm rakes as my 100 year old brick gaps were a bit uneven. It was very quick and easy to work out the knack to avoid dropping into vertical joints while cutting horizontally. Adjusting the angle slightly was effective at removing the small stones in this very old mortar mix. Best is no risk of cutting notches in the bricks by mistake with a disc cutter. Used with a vacuum cleaner attached in the right direction (to throw mortar debris towards the vacuum pipe) it was possible to use with little mess, but I preferred to get things done quickly and avoid the frequent vacuum filter ...

    Only a great idea... Mostly poor

    On older brick work which is miss-shaped or has uneven mortar beds, this tool is almost useless. At 10mm the rotary bit is 4mm too big even for modern brickwork. Excellent for the 15% of larger mortar beds, then unusable as its too big. Great idea, but not much use in real world scenarios. Cheaper to buy a stone cutting disk for your angle grinder cut the mortar bed centrally and chip the remainder away. Underwhelmed.

    Well worth the money!

    Bought this kit to aid repointing some damaged areas on the back of the house. As there are far more expensive mortar rakes out there, I wasn't really expecting great things from this "starter kit". I shouldn't have worried because it worked a treat!( even when used on my old, cheap grinder). It was so good I ended up repointing far more than I initially intended (3/4 of the rear wall of a three bed semi) and the one raking bit lasted the whole job! I didn't really have much success with the dust extraction though but that was more down to the fact that I was using cobbled together hoses, fixed to a low-ish powered vacuum! It still scattered far less dust/grit than grinding wheels would have done though.

    Good tool , helps control the dust

    Good tool as long as it is lime / Tilcon type mortar. The cutters do not last long on straight cement mortar.
