I started by 'de-taring' the woodchip hopper on the side. It took a while as it was pretty bad. But with the help of a scraper, the high pressure steam broke down the solid mass of tar. Then I turned to the grill plate which the steam cleaner tackled with ease. One important tip, don't wear decent clothes. I had to change and set the washing machine going afterwards!

These are far far superior than your regular hand held steamers, I even use mine to help me strip wallpaper.
