About this product
Product Information
This biography offers an insight into the lives of Winifred and Alison McKenzie from early childhood, their work and development, and the world which they shared until Alison's death in 1982. Two reviews by Edward Gage are included in the book. Students of the Glasgow School of Art in the 1920s, the sisters moved to London in the 1930s where their techniques were influenced at the Grosvenor School of Modern Art by Iain MacNab. In the 1940s and 1950s they were highly respected as teachers in Dundee where they shared the post of lecturer in composition, life drawing and wood engraving at the College of Art. In St Andrews in the late-1950s and 1960s they concentrated on flower and still-life paintings. In the 1970s and after, their holidays in Europe became a source of inspiration for their landscape paintings, some of which are reproduced in the plates section of this book. Now in her nineties, Winifred McKenzie is available for interview. Aylwin Clark is also available for interview.

- r***0 (19)- Feedback left by buyer.
