  • Great bang for your buck.

I'm not great at shooters. I'm notoriously bad at them, actually, but Steel Empire reels like a great gateway game into understanding the mechanics of shooters. It has very simple gameplay that moves at just the right speed, the screen isn't cluttered with all manner of distracting mess to disrupt your progression, and the soundtrack is varied, period appropriate for the themes that the game explores, and catchy as hell. The stage one theme is quickly rising to the top of my all time favorite Genesis tunes. If you have the cash and don't mind your sorts being a bit more on the lenient side, I'd say grab this one without thinking twice about it. For a shooter newbie like me, this game is a godsend in both presentation and gameplay..

  • A Excellent and very Unknown Genesis Shmup!!

A great and very accessible horizontal shooter for the Genesis! I really liked how you get to fly a Zeppelin, a different type of aircraft than your usual bi plane or spaceship and it’s also not a impossibly difficult shooter which makes it more fun to play as well!. It’s a surprisingly fun and doable unknown genesis shooter.

  • Amazing still to this day!

Never had the chance to play this back in the day but when I got this I imagined what my 1993 self would've been like if I did... Man this game is AWESOME! Addicting horizontal shooter with some of the best sounds I've heard in a long time in a genesis title. Love the blimp! Love the story! Love the artwork on cover! LOVE THIS GAME! Beat it 3 times the day I got it so it has replay value. Only 1 very minor gripe... Some bosses get repetitive. But truly unique game that rocked me to my core!
