About this product

Product Information

A departure from the usual railway title for Noodle Books, this new book is a joint venture with the Medway Queen Preservation Society. The story of the famous paddle steamer is told from its construction as a pleasure vessel through wartime service as a minesweeper, as well a rescue vessel during the Dunkirk evacuation, through to 'demobilisation' and a return to peacetime activities. A series of fascinating images depict this 'little ship' at work and play, as well as during construction, the working mechanics of the ship and the long trawl from withdrawal from public service through to purchase and eventual restoration.

The book arrived in perfect condition well packaged. It was a couple of days later than promised but I think this was a PO problem rather than the seller. A good price and as described. When the seller was contacted as the book had not arrived they immediately replied - could not fault. Would use this seller again.

I buy from this seller all the time and believe them to be the best of the BIG second-hand UK sellers. Comms are excellent and they respond quickly and make a real effort to resolve issues. Pricing is good and descriptions accurate and fair. Postage is free so there won't be any extra packing but I've never had a problem with items damaged in transit.

  • Medway Queen Super ship!!

Great book. Nice to see restoration taking g place. Wrote to Prime Minister several years ago to say this ship should be saved as a tribute to all those men that fell at Dunkirk. The reply was basically get lost and let the lottery fund it!!!!! Thanks for a superb book. It should be made part if the school curriculum so that up and coming children know what happened in the second World War. Can't wait to go on her!!!!

  • What a story?!

As a Kentish mid from Maidstone I knew nothing of the Medway Queen until reading about Dunkirk. This remarkable story could make a great film. I am now writing a song about her and this book fills in lot of details. Will visit her when next in Kent. All done.eveyone.

A superb account of an iconic ship which I remember seeing when I lived in Southend though I never did I get to have a trip on it .
