    Simple to use

    Item is simple to use. Set the range you want(3 options) and point and pull trigger. You look at the object you want to test. If the color on the object is green, it's within the range you've chosen. If blue, it's out of range on the cold side and if red, it's out of range on the hot side. Specific temperatures are shown on a readout on the back of the item. I like not having to look at the specifics only to get the results. Color coding is simple and easy.

    Thermal leak detector

    I bought this detector to check for air leaks around my house. Very pleased with it. Easy to use, press a buttom and get the temperature of the surrounding area you want to check, then check your target area. If it is colder than your surrounding area the green light turns blue, if it is warmer the light turns red. When the detector changes to blue or red you get a temperature reading so you can compare the surrounding temperature with the target temperature .

    Use it for attic inspections

    Heating and cooling a roof is so essential to a long life that this is a must-have for your tool box. On average there will be a 30 degree difference between the bottom and top of an attic. The functions will allow you to obtain the average temperature (green light) and by pointing the thermal detector at the lower section it will give you a blue light and then to the top a red light along with a temperature read out on the screen. If you video this process you will be able to help your home owner to see what they must do in order to remedy this situation. I would highly recommend this thermal detector based on the digital display screen and the corresponding colored lights for cooler/average/hotter.

    Visual thermal detector

    Compared to the Flir meter it’s slower in detection as you only test a small section at a time but it’s got a huge advantage in price It’s very accurate but you would have to take notes as opposed to a flir unit which takes photos for reference but armed with a rule and pencil and paper to log you results it’s brilliant Well recommended for a diy job It found all the cold spots in the room compared to the flir unit at a fraction of the cost It appears robust and well made for the price
