    Very sharp lens

    This is a very good lens. I found it to produce pixel sharp details at f/4.0 on full frame camera. The performance drops on 5.6 to then come back up at f/8 but it is not as sharp as at 4.0. At f/2.8 there is some chromatic aberration and some softness. The focus ring is a bit sticky and it seems to be the rule for this lens design. It does allow you to control the focusing group quietly in manual mode for video making. The autofocus is loud but fast, it seems precise. When used against sun there is significant flaring with polygon shapes projected but on the flip side little contrast loss. There is moderate barrel distortion, correctable if you download user made correction data in Photoshop. Vignetting is bad at 2.8 even for a wide angle lens.It gets better at 4.0 but is still ...
