an excellent all around studio microphone
As a studio owner I have a rather large collection of microphones including some very rare and expensive ones. We recently acquired a pair of the Lewitt LCT440 Pure mics and have been blown away by how good they sound, on everything. It has become our new go to mic over mics costing several times more. You really can't go wrong with this mic. It's simple to use, very detailed, open and articulate, good cardiod rejection, great for vocals and instruments alike. Lewitt hit this one out of the park by actually putting less in the mic.
There are absolutely no cons to this mic. The sound of this microphone is comparable to a CAD e100s (which I can actually compare now as I recently acquired one) or much more expensive tube transformer based microphone. There is no haziness of fuzziness around the edges of the sound it picks up. Only rich, full sound reaches the DAW. The sound seems so full that I had to add gain because I couldn't believe the clarity I was also getting. When not in a proper sound deadening environment, I'm even surprised by the clarity and richness of the unwanted sounds it picks up in my house. This mic does not have the extra bells and whistles of additional patters, low-cut/high-pass filters or even the much newer features available on Lewitt's own higher tier models, but what it does have is simple and pure distilled microphone sound. Add to that the inclusion of their trademark cut-away shock mount and magnetic pop screen (one of the best in the business in my opinion) and you have the perfect high quality starter microphone at a much lower price when compared to microphones of comparable design and build quality. Brilliantly awesome sounding mic with an adequate but not great shock mount
This mic blew me away on first use. It's just so good, everything people say about it is true. Amazing smooth vocals. My only complaint is in the design of the included shock mount.
