Terrific compact with great control
A small unit bigger than the "shirt pocket" types but it packs a big punch of a lens. Photos can be reviewed without technically turning the camera on. It has digital filter features and some other photographic tricks just for fun. PC connection is possible and AC power adapter is an inexpensive option. Decent.. Not Great
This is a decent camera. The zoom is not near what I imagined it to be, but I absolutely love the macro & super macro especially with the tilt screen on the back. It feels very cheaply made & I'm afraid I'm going to turn the dial one day & it will fall off in my hand. Still, it is lightweight & is comfortable to hold. I'm still looking for a camera that will duplicate the red of my Ranunculus. This one along with EVERY other camera I own or have owned falls short, so no real disappointment there, just par with the course. I don't shoot video, so I can't tell you about that. For Multitasking
Peerage in cameras and preference only go to narrow ones perspective and enrich the manufacturers with followers. So just let the manufacturers do their best and I will pick and choose what I desire. The rest is up to them. The X-5 is a very nice camera especially when you can pick one up for far less than most higher end bridge cameras that add a few gadgets for sales appeal. A used X-5 used one in good condition will fetch less than some of the pocket cameras and it has a larger sensor than they carry. The sensor seems adequate for most tasks. It is a substantial and on the go camera built to withstand some abuse and really shines as a travel and event companion. I have felt the sting of lost cameras twice when abroad. Replacing this camera will not hurt the pocketbook nearly as bad as more expensive models. Recently I photographed the Super Moon Eclipse and Blood Moon Extravaganza and it did a very fine job and nice detail work. With the fine telephoto lens, the large range of ISO settings and the adequate sensor I was able to capture the show even when our moon was in shade and the red blood color. I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking to take along a pal to enjoy and record their walk through what life has to offer.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great except no PC flash connection.
Everything is great except the flash. There is no provision to use an external flash, and using an optical slave trigger on an external flash is hopeless because the camera flash flashes twice for each shot.
