I have a "high-end" Cobra detector with built in GPS and an even older Beltronics RX65 Pro. This unit Cobra DSP 9200 BT has far greater detection capabilities from that of the older Cobra as well as my older Beltronics RX65 Pro. This unit also has far greater rejection capabilities for all forms of nuisance radar signals compared to older units. In particular this works very well in rejecting the latest K-band scourge of vehicle collision avoidance systems now on many cars and increasing daily. It's because of this is the main reason I looked at replacing my existing detectors. For Black Friday level pricing this unit was an absolute no brainer given that it is nearly as good as or even better in some radar bands which are all far more costly (3-6X) detectors from the so called high end brands of Escort, Valentine, Radenso, K40. Check out results on Radenso own site for this detector and you'll see just what a bargain this is when NOT purchased at its full retail price. You can find this detector for hundreds less such as on ebay, buydig, Amazon. The reason I didn't give this unit 5 stars is that Cobra omitted a GPS chip in this unit, and requires the use of your smart phones GPS and blue tooth capabilities to work in unison. This works fine for the most part, but you have to remember to run Cobras app every time you get in the car. Would have been far better in my opinion if they had gone with an internal GPS chip vs relying on your cellphones. Form factor is great, as it's so small it's easy to mount above my review window which makes it quite hidden from view.Read full review

I've only had the opportunity to use the detector twice, and I am unsure of it so far. I would like it to audibly alert loudly for a longer period than it does before muting. I passed several State Police sitting in the median and the detector did not alert. It leaves me a little concerned as to whether it is working or not. Maybe after a little more experience with it, I will think otherwise, but as of this time, I am sceptical.

I obtained the Cobra above, and my principal issue with it, is the mount device to the windshield. The two suction cups hold just fine, but the two sided tape doesn't really retain the radar detector all that well. So it falls to the dash. The detector alerts periodically, and I'm never sure what it's reacting to. An actual radar gun, electronic sliding doors from a nearby store.......? But it's better to made aware that something could be in the area, with a potential "ticket hazard", than blindly proceed down the road.

The DSP9200 is pretty much a state of the art unit. The ability to link to the Cobra iRadar app sets it apart from its competitors. Unfortunately Cobra needs to do some work on the iRadar app. The app does not link from my Android phone to the DSP9200 as easily as it should. This process should be seamless and it is not. One quickly learns that three separate steps must be followed to achieve a linkup. However once that is done the iRadar app seems to function as advertised alerting you to speed traps, red light cameras and other road hazards as the GPS function monitors your vehicles location. One can only hope Cobra will improve the iRadar app for an easier and more reliable linkup to the detector. When this done my rating would move from Good to Excellent

I found my previous Cobra detector worked well and thought this new model with DSP would be worth getting. It connects to my iPhone very easily. It is very quiet around town and when it does go off it is most likely at 34.7GHZ which is the local traffic police. It doesn't' false alert at the previous detectors "normal" false alert sights. I love the screen readout, I haven't noticed problems in bright light and having the GPS speed is really nice. Form factor is tiny Comes with a great storage container So I think this is an upgrade that is well worth getting.
