Once I get it back from Authorized Photo Service it will be a refurbished lens. Would not autofocus from135-200 mm. Getting a near full- gut repair on the inside costing what I won it for on the auction. Exterior condition was good, but inside was worn out. I'll have to 'use out' my investment in the repair. Bought as a vacation lens for times I didn't want to carry 2.8 glass. Still much cheaper that the current model-and much smaller. Plastic body and mount may be a little less robust for professional use, but it's not a pro lens anyway.

I was looking for something affordable and lightweight for walking around not carrying my entire bag with me. I literally just got this lens today 03.26.2020 and I have to say that I'm very pleased with the performance of this lens. The lens tends to be a little bit soft on the edges at 200mm. I only played in the house and took couple of shots by the window and I was very impressed. Now, you have to keep in mind that you get what you're paying for. This is not a fixed aperture, but in my opinion, it is as sharp as the ones that cost a hand and a leg. For those people that just started photography for fun or personal events, it is the one lens that will do the job for you indoor or outdoor. For outdoor, I can guarantee that your pictures vs a more expensive gear shots, will be the same if not in some ocations better but dor a fraction of the cost. Something to keep in mind when you are shooting indoor. You must have a good lighting or use your flesh. You'll be surprised how much you will love you pictures. Overall, this lens ,in my honest opinion, it is worth the money. I'm a long time hobbyist and I have different types of lenses; I have to tell you that this one will probably stay attached to my D750 fx probably 80% of the time when going out with my family. I only paid $170 in mint condition and I love it. I don't want to go into the things that I don't like about this lens, and it will be worles because of the price and the performance of this lens is phenomenal. However, I wish it was not that plasticky; yes ,but again it will not be worth the same as it is now. In conclusion, it is a very good lens for beginners and even professionals for walk around. Just don't hold your camera from the lens and you'll be safe. Hope you had a chance to find out weather this lens is for you or not. Happy shooting and stay safe! P.S. Very sharp images, love it! :))Read full review

Would rather have a lens with a longer focal length and a lower F stop. No Vibration Reduction, so not so good for action photography. It is a good lens, but not a great lens. Okay for the price.

Great multi-purpose lens for FX format Camera. It is G Lens mean it don't have the motor on the lens to drive the Focus. If your camera body don't have the mechanical to drive the lens it will not Auto Focus. It is compatible with Full Frame Nikon D3, D700, D800. Dx format D300, D90, D7000, D7100 will also can use autofocus but gonna have 1.5factors times(28-200mm). It is not cannot Auto Focus on Camera body Nikon D40, D60, D5100. The Lens barrel made with plastic so when you use it with heavy camera body like Nikon D3, D4, D700, D300, or D800. Don't try to grab your camera by holding on the Lens. You may break it if you do so.
The Nikon 28-200mm lens is my first non-kit lens that I bought for my D40. This lens has good optics and a metal mount, which adds to its durability. I have taken potrait shots, sport shots, and moon shots so far. The picture quality is excellent. Pictures that come out is very sharp. With the D40, I gain 1.5x the zoom length while losing 1.5x the wide angle. Furthermore, since D40 has no auto-focus motor in the body of the camera, I cannot auto-focus with this lens. I bought the lens knowing this, but it is not a big problem. I do miss chances to take some good shots during sporting events but I am satisfied by the good shots I got. The manual focus is helped by D40's focus indicator in the viewfinder. The little dot lights up when object is in focus. I bought this lens because I am on a budget. I did not want to spend $600+ for the Nikon AF-S DX 18-200mm VR. It might performed better on my D40, but it is a DX lens. This 28-200mm lens is an FX lens, and it will suit my Nikon film SLR, should I ever shoot in films again. Overall, the lens is good enough for me now, and I will be taking many amazing shots before I move up the Nikon lens chain.Read full review
