Revell is my go to manufacturer, they are priced right and the models are very accurate when built. the instructions couldn't be simpler and the decals are of a good quality. i have built some of the more expensive models and find that Revell is at least on the same level and most important Revell is priced right for us retired modelers. keep up the good work.

Serviceable model. Can be made into a reasonable miniature of the real thing. Fit isn't the best but can be worked around by sanding and use of filler/putty. Lots of flash probably due to old molds. Limited cockpit detail and wheel well detail. If I had to do it again, and for anyone able to afford it, a more recent model from Tamiya or Trumpeter is recommended. Otherwise, if a person has time and ability to add scratchbuilt or aftermarket components, a decent model can be made from this kit

Generally speaking, the kit is only the starting point. The rest is up to the person building the kit. A great model builder can make even a lousy kit look good. This particular kit is up to Revell's standards and I've been building Revell kits for the past 50 years. There are pieces with flash (extra plastic that oozes out from ill-fitting molds during the molding process), some warped pieces, notably in the wings and fuselage. Surface detail is so-so, painting info is okay. A certain amount of putty work is needed, especially along the fuselage seams, wing joints, rear aileron to fuselage joints. Despite its minor faults, the kit is worth its not-too-expensive price.

Pretty easy build, But on all these kits, (whether it's the Vintage or newer version like this one) the action on the folding wings is really bad and they're very delicate at best. Easy to break them if your not careful - it makes painting more difficult but not impossible. And I found the canopy to be more difficult to mask off because the frame lines were almost non-existent. Very hard to see. But these kits are still running at a decent price right now. I hope this review was helpful. P.S. the pluto decal did NOT come with this kit. I just had it laying around And though it looked kinda plain w/out any nose art.

I'm just an average builder. I thought it was an easy 3 on the skill meter. If you can live w/ a ton of sanding & putty work. The fit could've been better, but the details are pretty nice inside & out, except for the canopy glass. It was a little blurry & the frame lines are hard to see and therefor difficult to mask-off. The wings did fold up & down, but the action was really bad. They kept hanging up on themselves & felt fragile at best. Since I was gonna hang it anyway, I glued mine in a "down" position. The one area that didn't seem to need a ton of putty. Go figure. The decals were very nice & slid into position without issue. All in all, I felt this was a good build & worthy of my time & money. It's a large war-bird when completed w/ a 13-1/4" wingspan. And it's got those famous classic lines. I hope this review was helpful. P.S. The Pluto decal on the nose did NOT come w/ this kit. I had it laying around, & though it looked good on it. The navy planes can seem a little baron to me without any nose art. So, my apologies to any Navy purist I may have offended. Happy modeling to all.Read full review
