I consider this a tribute album, and I think it is one of the better ones. Rather than having many artists each do one song, this album features three leads and they take turns as lead singer, much as the Beatles did. That format provides variation but also consistency. In addition, the songs are Lennon McCartney rarities, some of which you will recognize as hits from early British Invasion groups who had been given songs churned out by John and Paul. Most tribute albums leave me wanted to go back and listen to the original, but this one stands on its own. My only regret was that it did not include a cover of "One", a Lennon McCartney song covered by Three Dog Night. I highly recommend this CD to anyone interested in the Beatles.
A "must have" for all Kate Pierson and B-52's fans!! Kate is awesome (as usual)!!!! Kate's songs on this album: "I'm In Love", she indeed pulled off a super emotional remake of an "average" McCartney song. "Step Inside Love", excellent in every way! "Love Of The Loved", just the way Paul envisioned it I bet! "Nobody I Know", totally enchanting! Graham Parker and Bill Janovitz do a good job on this album too! All in all, a great album! I'm in love, Thanks.
this must be one of the worst cover albums of all time! some of the songs on here i heard for the first time, but the ones i heard the Beatles perform originally have been given the '90s touch of cr@p rock. even Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen, who i admire as a great/funster from the '80s (that and he actually went to my Guilford High School in Rockford IL... too much information you say?!!!) cooperation on 'That Means Alot', a great early Lennon/McCartney composition, is reminiscent of something the cat dragged in and puked on since it was dead already! AN' I'M JUST GETTIN' STARTED HERE... anyway, it's not worth your time, stay away... please.
You cant help but think of all the amazing music weve missed from all the music ledgends that died before their time. with 26 more years of songwriting there is no doubt that lennon and mccartney would have struck gold many many more times then time allowed. For any fan it is a treat to hear all these new songs from the old team. Priceless
