"The Lickerish Quartet" is one in a pair of Radley Metzger's two finest films - the other being "Camille 2000". It was Metzger's next film after "Camille", and he teamed up with the same writer he worked with on "Camille". Also, it stars the ultra-sultry Silvana Venturelli who played a supporting role in "Camille". "The Lickerish Quartet" is similar to Metzger's "The Dirty Girls" in that it's not so much plot-driven as concept-driven. The general concept, of course, is lust (and it's prime late '60s/early '70s Euro erotica, flirting with art-house credibility instead of B-movie titillation). The movie explores the way 3 different people (a mother, father, and son) relate to sex - via Venturelli! As I read somewhere, Metzger likes to dwell on the image of two naked bodies in sexual union. It's not all smooth eroticism, a lot of it is simple, even awkward, and definitely psychological.Read full review
