Period piece/Nostalgia trip
The Outro is a resissue, in one CD, of the second and third albums by the Bonzo Dog Band. These songs are very much in keeping with the times they were issued, the late '60s. The humor is much like the Pythons, the music is late 60's with an overlay of radio-type sound effects. At the worst, funny but dated, at best - absolutely hilarious. The perfect intro, or should that be outro, to this amazing stand alone 60s/70s band. Conceived in an era that spawned the likes of the internationally famous Monty Pythons Flying Circus and of course the Beatles Sgt Peppers, this was and is pharmaceutically powered alternative humour at its outrageous best. Almost every track is a blast and most were very skilfully created. Extensive use has been made of stereophonic sound effects that just add to the sheer craziness and fun. Tadpoles is something of a masterpiece and probably represents the best of all things Bonzo. The more you play this 2 album set the more infectious it becomes and the further down the road to ruin you travel! Bonzo Dog Band - we love you!
Well, what can you say? The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band is just as great today as they were in the 60's when I saw them on TV! It's sad that Viv Stanshall is no longer with us - as he and Neil Innes were the major influence on the wide repertoir of this great band that has evolved through the decades! Just sit back and enjoy this (not unique) great sound that is reminiscent of Spike Jones in places and Spike Milligan in others!
