Great set and perfect value for money well done!!

All is perfect apart the size drill bit the size suitable for column bench drill, rest the staff is perfect and working perfectly. I strongly recommended ans advise to improve the size drill bit, will be more handy for usage. ;)

  • Most critical review

    Drill too large

The 14mm drill cannot be used with normal tools that most people will have in their garage/workshop. The problem is that the shank of the drill is 14mm, but most electric or hand drills have a chuck with a maximum of either 1/2" or 13mm, therefor how are you supposed to use the drill. I managed to open up the stripped thread in my case by using a parallel reamer. The drill shank should be turned down to a smaller diameter that would fit a standard chuck.

  • Not heavy duty but but does the job

In fairness I have never installed a helicoil before so I can't make a comparison but it was that or the sump off my wife's old Octavia 1.9tdi as someone had stripped the drain plug thread - a common problem I understand. The drill bit supplied is not ideal, as the 14mn shank will only fit in a bench drill but I bought a reduced shank drill from another supplier and all went well. If you do this at home, make sure you flush the sump well and put grease on the tap to keep the drillings and swarfs out of your oil. Worked for me on an alloy sump but if you need to do this regularly, perhaps worth spending a little more

  • Good product, problem fixed.

worked perfectly, only problem I had was that the drill bit was too large for my drill, but since I was repairing alloy threads using mole grips worked ok.

  • M14x1.5x12.4m. Helicoil set

Helicoil set is good value for the money. But be advised the drill bit will not fit a standard battery drill or mains powered drill chuck. I had to use a pillar drill to complete task.
