This was also the year that he began broadcasting on Today with Pat Kenny, giving readers of his column the chance to reacquaint themselves with his wonderful voice. Nowhere was Brendan's voice more articulate than in his Weather Eye column, which had become, for him, a daily opportunity to express his ideas in a creative way. He was passionate about spreading scientific information in an accessible manner. His love of history and literature had furnished him with a remarkable breadth of knowledge. He welcomed the daily challenge of Weather Eye and often remarked on how indebted he was to the many people who wrote to him over the years with questions, ideas and contributions to his research database. It is for these people, his readers and friends, that this book is compiled.
