About this product

Product Information

Comedian Paul Kerensa is a church-hopper. Not because he can't settle, but because his job sends him all over the country, every weekend. Every Friday and Saturday night he's hurling jokes at audiences in different towns - it can be hen parties in Birmingham one weekend, a Cornish arts centre the next. His ritual has always been to find dirt-cheap Saturday night accommodation, and an enriching nearby church on Sunday morning. In his experience, the churches are more diverse - and more often than not tougher gigs - than the secular comedy circuit. So a Comedian Walks Into a Church ... is the hilarious diary of Paul's unusual life. Behind the gags, church-goers will learn some valuable lessons about how they present themselves to strangers.

  • Great little book from a Christian Comedian (no, really, God's Truth!)

I saw the author, Paul Kerensa, hosting a comedian's night in my local village working-man's club and despite my initial misgivings ("he's a churchgoing Christian - how can he possibly be funny...) I really warmed to his personality and sense of humour. He's perceptive, clever, and funny for all ages - in fact the antithesis to the archetypal modern motormouth who effs and blinds his way through his act as quickly as he possibly can. I also get the strong impression that Paul is that rare 21st century commodity, a nice guy, even a gentleman. And let's face it, there aren't too many of us around. The book reflects Paul's personality (from what I could gather from that evening) perfectly and is great for just dipping into as well as reading in larger chunks. It will bring a smile and light ...
