  • Metallica do Prog Rock?

This is an album you will either love or hate, I doubt anyone will simply be disinterested by it. A fusion between the raw power and rock/metal of Metallica, and the sweeping strings, horns and orchestral smothness of a philharmnic orchestra. The result to my ears is better than the sum of the parts, each compliments the other, bringing a sound which realy has to be played LOUD! The album contains all the tracks you would expect from Metalicca, Enter the Sandman, Master of Pupets, Nothing Else Matters etc; but when played live with the backing of a full orchestra they seem to take on a new life and a new musicality. Yes for those who think Metallica are not talented musicians and songwriters you need to listen to this album. What more can I say? I think it is probably the best album the ...

  • A must buy for any music fan

The world’s best Heavy Metal band and one of the world’s best Orchestras in the world combine to make a true masterpiece! Even if you are not a Metallica fan it is and amazing display of classical music and heavy metal. Also you will not believe it is a recording of a live performance in concert. This is a must for any CD collection, and any Metallica fan! A small piece of history for you, the idea came from the original version of Nothing Else Matters, where Michel Kamen scored the classical parts for Nothing Else Matters. Then at a award ceremony Michel was amazed by a live performance of Metallica and made a point to see the band after, where he suggested them do a whole concert with an orchestra, a long 8 years later they decided to do that very thing, giving birth to METALLICA & ...

  • Metallica S&M

This is an awsome album, so good I've had to buy it twice because one of my old house mates decided he liked it more than I did and took it with him when he left... left me the case though, how generous! Anyways, the album, calasic Metallica tracks plus a few new ones, live, with an accompanying orchestra. Sounds like it probably won't work, but oh it sooo does. When the guys walk out on stage to Gold Rush (the 1st track) I always find myself wishing I could have been there in the crowd. The only very slight down side I could possibly mention about this album is one of personal preference in that I might have chosen a slightly differnt play list, but at the end of the day, who am I to question the musical decisions of James, Larrs and the other guys?

  • Metallica S&M

Metallica rock anyway, but with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra behind them this live album takes on epic proportions. From the orchestral openings of 'Extacy of Gold' to the 'old skool 'tallica' classic 'Battery' this double album is best listened to loud and on a good stereo system to appreciate the fusing of heavy metal and epic orchestral arrangements. The only thing I disliked about it is that they never toured the show in the UK, I would have sold my soul to see that show! creamymuckmuck
