my 14 year old daughter Morwenna loved this film. Hilary duff and Heather locklear have such a rapport with each other, in this movie. Every time single mum Jean played by Heather Locklear breaks up with another boyfriend, the family of three move away. Holly Hamilton played by Hilary Duff is fed up with moving again and again, having to make new friends, and missing out on all of the fun things involved at school. So she thinks up a plan for her mums perfect man. She makes up an admirer for her mum, and even sends her mum flowers, presents and letters. She tries to make her mum happy again. She even takes a picture of her friends Uncle Ben, to make it seem more real. Her mum is so taken with this guy, she wants to meet him, and thats were Holly has a problem. mayhem ensues.my 14 year old daughter Morwenna loved this film. Perfectly appealing cross-generational rom-com
This is a great little film with enough romance and comedy for all the family to enjoy. Hilary Duff, obviously seeking to distance herself slightly from her 'Lizzie McGuire' days, turns in her most mature performance yet as the teenage girl who concocts an elaborate and ultimately uncontrollable scheme to try and bring some happiness and stability into the life of her flighty but loveable single mum (Heather Locklear), who moves the family all over the country as a remedy for her constantly fragmentative love life. What with the selfishness of some of the mother's behaviour, and the deceitfulness of some of the daughter's in the ensuing story, it can't have been easy for the writers to keep the audience's sympathy fully with both characters throughout the movie, but they skilfully ... This is a great little film with enough romance and comedy for all the family to enjoy. Hilary Duff, obviously seeking to distance herself slightly from her 'Lizzie McGuire' days, turns in her most mature performance yet as the teenage girl who concocts an elaborate and ultimately uncontrollable scheme to try and bring some happiness and stability into the life of her flighty but loveable single mum (Heather Locklear), who moves the family all over the country as a remedy for her constantly fragmentative love life. A strong supporting cast including Caroline Rhea of 'Sabrina' fame adds much needed comic relief from the main story in much the same way as in 'A Cinderella Story', an earlier combination between Miss Duff and director Mark Rosman. Also notable is the excellent score by Christophe Beck, who worked on that film as well as on 'Ice Princess', 'Buffy' and many other things but excelled himself on this project. As an advance from the text messaging theme in 'A Cinderella Story', it's interesting to note the use of blogging and instant messaging to develop the plot and characterisation in this movie, which must have been difficult to do on film but works really well and is a great echo of the real lifestyles of real teenagers. The DVD extras are cool and show how everyone working on the film seemed to have a great time, which comes through when watching the actual movie because of the on-screen chemistry between the cast members. All in all this film is enjoyable, uncomplicated fun and I would definitely recommend it.

This is a typical girly film where by the perfect man is found, it will make you chuckle in places and it will make you cringe in places. it's one of those films that us girls watch to cheer ourselves up with when we are down and ill. To watch this film close all the curtains, lie back on the sofa with a duvet and a nice hot cup of tea, although it is a very cheesy film you will forget about how ill and down you feel. It is also a perfect teenager film i.e from 10 years old and onwards, a sunday film to keep the kids quiet.This is a typical girly film where by the perfect man is found, it will make you chuckle in places and it will make you cringe in places. it's one of those films that us girls watch to cheer ourselves up with when we are down and ill.
