About this product

Product Information

SCTV's Bob and Doug Mackenzie (Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) star as two wacky beer guzzling "hosers" who set out on a zany plot to score a free case of brew. They meet the beautiful Pam (Lynne Griffin) and decide to help save her recently acquired brewery from the diabolical Brewmeister Smith (Max von Sydow--THE EXORCIST) The comedy kicks into full gear as the pair try and overpower Brewmeister Smith in a story that is actually a nutty re-working of Shakespeare's HAMLET.

Great seller! Nice set of DVDs. Like new instead of just Very Good as described. Even the "presentation" box was in great shape. Arrived much sooner than expected and well-packaged for shipping. I think packaging is important because things can be ruined if they aren't in decent packaging. Much appreciated.

Awesome! hadn't seen this in years!

Was browsing ebay and saw this. I hadn't seen this in years, and to my surprise neither had my Canadian born husband! We had a barrel of laughs watching it and loved the super special effects at the end!! Good times :)

  • STILL GOOD AFTER ALL THESE YEARS...

I saw Strange Brew when it came out in the theaters when I was in my senior year of highschool, and later drove around listening to the soundtrack tape in my beat up Pinto with my friends. At the time I missed the whole Shakespaerian angle and just thought it was a mildly funny movie with some memorable quotes ("He once got our dead battery goin by mixin' bird feces and spit, cause there's like acids in it, eh?"). Twenty-five years later I decided to grab a copy from ebay and watch it again. Unlike other old movies and tv shows that I tried this with (Rambo, Space 1999, Battlestar Galactica) and found to be painfully bad after all this time, watching Strange Brew actually still made my wife and I laugh. My kids watched it ("Oh look, Dad's watching an old movie.") and laugh along with us. ...

  • brain vacation

Ok, if you're looking for a really great movie that will one day be a classic, go look somewhere else. But if you're just looking for some mindless entertainment to let your brain take a vaction, these guys can certainly do the job. Entertaining and funny and stupid (because it's supposed to be stupid!), this movie lets you kick back, forget your worries, and enjoy a couple of hours of escape My opinion: Like, go buy this movie, eh? And grab a cold one, or two, or eight, eh? If you don't like this movie, then, like TAKE OFF, eh?

  • STRANGE BREW

THIS MOVIE IS BASED ON THE MAIN CHARACTERS FROM SCTV PLAYED BY RICK MORANIS AND DAVE THOMAS. BOB AND DOUG McKENZIE GOT INVOLVED AT A BREWERY WHERE IT IS BEING CONTROLLED BY A GIRL UNCLE AND AN EVIL MAN NAME BREWMEISTER SMITH WHO WANTED TO CONTROL THE WORLD BY TAINING THE BEER WITH A MIND CONTROL DRUG. OUR SKI-CAPPED HEROES WOUND UP STUMBLING BREWMEISTER'S PLANS AND BEING FRAMED FOR KIDNAPPING AND ATTEMPED MURDER OF THE GIRL WHO GETS TO INHERIT THE COMPANY. IT'S UP TO THEM AND A FORMER HOCKEY PLAYER/ BREWERY EMPLOYEE TO STOP THE BREWMEISTER'S EVIL PLAN. THE MOVIE IS MADE IN CANADA. WHICH EXPLAINS THE BACKGROUND SCENERY AND THE WORDS LIKE "TAKE OFF, EH!" AND "HOSER". SOME PARTS LOOK STUPID, BUT THERE ARE PARTS THAT ARE FUNNY.

  • Old favorite Canadian comedy movie even funnier than I remembered!

Arrived quickly and in excellent condition. I've been looking for this DVD for a long time as I wanted my husband to see what a funny movie this is! Now he could finally watch it and agreed with me. This is a classic. (Note: My husband is American and I'm Canadian, I grew up watching Bob & Doug McKenzie in high school along with Second City TV - lol)
