Spanish director Amando de Ossorio was a contemporary of Lucio Fulci and Jess Franco, but never achieved the notoriety or cult fame those icons enjoyed, possibly because viewers were deterred by the quality of much of his output. If so, they were overlooking Ossorio's masterpiece, the BLIND DEAD series, which remain iconic in the Euro-horror canon. In the first, TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD, three friends who have met up at a Portuguese resort take an excursion the next day, during which a love triangle causes a spurned woman to jump ship and take refuge in an abandoned cemetery, where she reawakens a horrific legacy, for buried nearby are the remains of the Knights Templar. A group of Crusaders from the 13th Century who engaged in rituals to preserve their eternal life, the Knights' powers depended upon the blood of the innocent. They were burned for their heresies and decadence, their eyes gouged out so they could not find their way back from Hell. But the Blind Dead cannot die, so they lie in wait for the scent or sound of something living. The whole quartet is haunted by these disturbingly realistic corpse-zombies, and a high level of creative, gruesome violence and perverse sexuality pervades the collection.

The Blind Dead Collection is a must have for all horror fans
Overall it is a great set of a classic collection,nothing ripped,cracked nor turn. All discs played except one played thru w/o issue. The Ghost Galleon disc played good until right during the second model was being chased by the Templars,the picture momentarily stopped a couple of times and then cleared up.

What happens when good knights go bad?
This is a compilation of the four "Blind Dead" films, about knights gone bad. The original title is based on the destruction of the Templar Knights by the King of France during the middle ages. In this case, however, the knights - instead of being a holy order - have given to sacrificing nubile virgins and drinking their blood. The reason for them being blind is that the people rose up and captured the entire order, blinded them, then killed them. The problem is that they keep coming back and stealing nubile virgins (usually by exposing their breasts first then killing the girls). The first film is in rural Spain and gives a bit of the knight's history - all fiction. In the second film, "Return of the Blind Dead(?)" the dead knights return to ravage the small town (and the nubile ... This is a compilation of the four "Blind Dead" films, about knights gone bad. The fourth and last is "Night of the Seagulls", where a coastal village fishes during the day and sets out nubile virgins at night to be taken by the ghosts of the knights to have (what else) there breasts exposed and their hearts removed. What always troubles me about such themes is how does a small fishing village get so many virgins?
