I literally grew up watching the Patricia Hearst media frenzy. I would tape record all of the news of her splashing all over the airwaves. I was fascinated with the depth of the case- race, class, politics, wars, etc. It educated me in a way that the schools I attended never would or could. After reading Patricia`s book and then viewing the film, it gave me more insight as to what was going on in Patricia`s head. The film, created by her was exciting and educational as well as entertaining. To me, truth IS stranger than fiction which makes truth more interesting. Here we have a kidnapped victim, "arrested" for her parents "crimes against the poor", and in two months Patricia chose to join the S.L.A. to fight for their cause of overthrowing the government. After carefully going thru all the facts, I belive she was not forced but was "re-educated". The term "brainwashed" is so vague that it serves no purpose. Ive also taken into account the age she was (19) and the fact that she WAS a victim of a violent crime, coupled with being locked in a closet, deprived of nature and healthy food and a constant threat that she would be "executed" at any time. How many of us would have survived against such impossible odds? Patricia Hearst is indeed a strong, intelligent survivor and because of the facts I have stated, should have never been convicted. Patricia was a victim twice; once thru the S.L.A. and then by the justice system. Bill Curto

Excellent thought provoking movie!
The movie is based on the true story. Natasha Richardson is EXCELLENT in the movie. I can't believe that she is gone. SAD
