This is a consumer drive that offers very high storage density in 2.5 inch form factor. However, when put in a server rack, these drives drop out of raid quite a bit and we have roughly 1 out of 12 drives die in a year. Speed is acceptable when used for archiving (low rotational speed affects random access more than linear read/write). So, overall: not very useful as 'cheap' raided enterprise storage, however likely ok as a high storage density SATA drive when used in consumer environment (low vibration environment).

Bought this for my HTPC build, as the case only realistically takes 2.5" drives. It is 15mm in depth (not your usual 7mm) so be mindful of that. It's surprisingly quiet, was expecting vibration and whine but nothing. Thought it was broken it was that silent. Managed about 120MB/s read/write out of it too so pretty good! Price, well, for the worlds highest capacity mechanical 2.5" drive (at time of writing) with the highest ever particle density, I would say nearly £200 isn't bad for 5TB! Highly recommended!

Same as a previous reviewer, I bought 14 of them for a RAID JBOD. Had two fail on me which I returned under warranty. Now a year later, I've got another one saying errors, device failed, rebuilding RAID array, rebuild failed, recovered, rebuilding RAID array. Full rebuild takes a week! Luckily I bought two spares so if this one keeps failing I have something to replace it with. Please let the other drives survive until the rebuild completes! (crosses fingers, hands and legs)
