Damon is Mike McDermott, a law student who has given up his true talent (and love), gambling, when he loses all of his money to Teddy KGB (Malkovich in a hilarious role). Months later, when his friend Worm (Norton) gets out of jail and is on a strict deadline to repay a $15,000 debt to Teddy, he must decide whether or not to help his friend, threatening his student status and relationship with his girlfriend (Mol). Tightly written, beautifully photographed by the brilliant Escoffier, and well-played all across the board (particularly by Norton), this is a work of slick, enjoyable entertainment.

More than a card game...it's a way of life.
I purchased this DVD after catching the film late one night on TV. You know the ones that come on in the early hours. You usually think to yourself 'I'm tired, I'm going to bed'. But every so often something draws you in, and makes you forget about how rubbish you will feel in the morning. Rounders was one of these gems. To cut a long story short, it's about a Poker player (Matt Damon) and his friend (Edward Norton) who play Poker for a living (the term 'rounder' refers to someone who lives off money made from card games.) My reasons for enjoying, and eventually purchasing the film were down to my love of Poker. It has been cited as a film which inspired many pro's to give up retirment and start playing again, also also encourage new players. However, there is much more to this than just ... If you are interested in Poker, then this film NEEDS to be viewed. But even if you aren't, you might understand why people get so involved, or become involved yourself. Definitely one to watch.
