THE definative story of "Hoosier Hysteria"

If you are a native of Indiana--a Hoosier--this film must be your favorite. I grew up in the 1950's and can testify that it captures both the nature of the State and its hysteria when it came to basketball perfectly. The beautiful Indiana countryside is captured in this film. The tension that used to come to a boiling point over the winter in this State and expressed itself in the basketball games leading to the State Championship game is developed accurately in this telling of our story. For the Hoosiers of this day and age, it is a gift from previous generations when we had a single tournament system, making a miracle possible. Now that is ruined by multiple levels that result in lots of awards worth much less to this State.

  • Terrific Film. However....

Terrific Film. However.... A compelling feature film COULD have been made that hewed entirely to the facts of Milan High School's historic state championship.

  • A great film and story of a school basketball team.

A memorable film with Gene Hackman. A great story of a school basketball team. Color image quality is excellent. The option of audio to other languages is an added value to this DVD. I am satisfied with this purchase. The seller has been quick and efficient.

  • Great Indiana Movie

For a long time basketball has been "the" sport in Indiana. The movie Hoosiers tells the story of a small Indiana town that despite being small it overcomes adversity to beat a goliath team. Not only that, but the scenery and subjects are true-to-life. Being from Indiana I love the opening scene filmed in the fall at harvest time - it is iconic. A great film to take in on a cool fall afternoon.

  • Hoosiers - is based on the true story of the small Milan, IN high school basketball team. One of the best sports movies ever.

The extras are great. The included cut scenes answer questions like - how did Buddy get back on the team - and how did Coach Dale and Myra Fleener appear to "suddenly" get to the point of sharing a kiss. The only thing I wish was included was a director's cut - where all the cut scenes are incorporated back into the movie - instead of just viewing the standalone cut scenes.
