    Close but not quite.

    Though pride and prejudice is a good read, and good movies, this isn't as good as the BBC offering with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. I do like the actors in this version I purchased. It's pretty good, but not my favorite.

    Is this the same Pride & Prejudice that Jane Austin wrote about?

    Costuming was needed, as was a proper hair dresser. A&E got it correct, with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth, and the Greer Garson , and Laurence Oliver 1940 film was more engaging than this. When Judi Dench came at night to question Keira Knightley, the candlelight made her features very ugly, Lady Catherine De Bourgh played by Barbara Leigh-Hunt in the A&E film was more forceful, demanding, and believable ! All in all this was not to be taken lightly or to be believed in any way... this was a sad film, that showed a sad family, and never connected any one part to the other. Tiny snip-its were give to us, and we could not glue the story line so it would hold any truth.

    As I did enjoy this movie I felt that there was more to the story to be told, still a very nice period peace. No I haven't read the book

    Great Condensed Movie

    Though this movie is only a 2-hour version of the original work by Jane Austen, it is a wonderful adaptation. Keira Knightley is officially one of my new favorite actresses! This movie is a good option to watch if you don't have time to watch the 5-hour BBC version of Pride and Prejudice.

    Think about your preferences in movies versus books.

    Luckily I can watch a movie of which I have different versions, and like it even though it doesn't resemble any other version. If you prefer the story as close to the book as possible, this one is not for you.
