Metal is a little thin, but all in all pretty sturdy.

Beyond that, it’s a good ashtray but the telescoping pole is a bit too easy to push down. I suggest doing something to lock the pole into position if you’re keeping this in the same place for a long time. I used 2 pieces of marine grade shrink wrap with adhesive and applied it to the pole in such a way to where it can not be collapsed easily and now it works great
