About this product

Product Information

Though the characters aren't quite as detailed as those in the original game, Joust for the Atari 7800 is an excellent arcade adaptation. The game includes most of the details, such as the Troll Monster's hand that snags you out of the air when you get too close to the Lava Pit, and the motorcycle-like roar of the enemies commencing to attack. The game's biggest drawback is the wear and tear on the thumb from keeping the ostrich in flight via the side button of the 7800 joystick, though replacing the controller with an Atari VCS joystick does help somewhat in this regard.

  • Good port of an old-style/classic era arcade.

Joust for the 7800 is a good port, and plays well. I wanted it to extend my 7800 library. But ‘Joust’ have it limitations. If you loved the Arcade you’ll love this. If you’re not familiar with Joust or this gametype, I’ll advice to check out gameplay on YouTube and similar services, to see if this gameplay-type is for you.

  • Trevor Mcfur

Its a bland horizontal shooter with good graphics. Sound and control are ok. Not really any music. Has power ups that are pretty cool. Which is odd for a shooter. But neither did Doom on the Jaguar.

  • Joust for the Atari 7800

The game is a great version of the classic arcade game. The only real issue is that occasionally the American Atari 7800 controllers can be a bit clumsy playing this game but they are generally clumsy playing any game due to a lack of thought in design but if you like Joust and have a 7800 I would definitely say that this is a must have for your collection
