The best part (hardware): The secondary handset does not need to be connected to a telephone extension socket. The worst part: The manual is a little overwhelming to get through. Patience is required. Not recommended for the technophobic. The ear-splitting part: The factory-new default settings have the ringer volume at full blast. I'm almost positive I heard my neighbours run for their own phones. The best part (software): Everything is configurable from either handset, with the exception that one handset cannot change settings on the other. 'Everything' includes the 20-entry built-in phonebook, the time and date, the answerphone settings and playback, call answering behaviour, remote answerphone access, the built-in alarm clock and the list of recent inbound calls. The answerphone can also be used to screen incoming calls, and caller number display is available if you're willing to pay your telephone provider (BT/Virgin/etc.) to supply that information. In this day and age of smartphones, this solution won't be for everyone, and I'd also recommend having a dumb landline phone to hand just in case the mains power goes out (this system will not work without power), but otherwise, this is a very capable and useful system.Read full review
