After reading the 13 1/2 lives of Captain Bluebear by Walter Moers, I knew I had to read more of his work. I found the book Rumo and his Miraculous Adventures at a great price on ebay and bought it immediately. It is not often that an author surpasses his most famous novel. However, in the case of Rumo and His Miraculous adventures, Moers has outdone himself. This novel, while still incorporating Moers' astounding imagination and interesting artwork, shows a real development in style and structure. Rumo captures the reader's attention and doesn't let it go. Even after reading the novel I find myself thinking about the story and comparing some of the people I meet with the characters in the book. This is not just a pleasant read, it is also a sensuous experience of the mind. I will no longer see the world in quite the same way again. I highly reccomend this novel to anyone interested in fun, imagination, and a hope for modern literature.Read full review
This is a rather violent in places, but not so much that it is excessive or turns your stomach. That is the only downside. As a whole it is an extremely interesting book, (almost as good as the 13 1/2 lives of captain bluebear) and definitely worth adding to your collection.
