About this product

Product Information

The classic picture book story of Sophie and her extraordinary teatime guest has been loved by millions of children since it was first published more than fifty years ago. Now an award-winning animation! The doorbell rings just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea. Who could it possibly be? What they certainly don't expect to see at the door is a big furry, stripy tiger! This warm and funny picture book story is perfect for reading aloud, or for small children to read to themselves time and again. First published in 1968 and never out of print, it has become a timeless classic enjoyed and beloved by generations of children. The magic begins at teatime! 'A modern classic.' The Independent It's no surprise Judith's work is still popular. It owes nothing to the vagaries of style or fashion. Her warmth and humanity are timeless. Michael Foreman

    Tiger who came to tea.

Lovely little story with great pictures . We bought a soft toy to go with this book that my grandaughter holds while we read. Just enough words per page to hold a 2 year olds interest. I think this book will be treasured and dog eared in a few weeks as a firm favourite already.

    Not all dads drink beer

Enjoyed it until the mention of beer. Is it really necessary or relevant in a children's book?

  • Fun story for small children.

Lovely book for my grandson. The quality is superb and I'm sure it will be a "keeper". Having watched the film on the TV together and seeing the sheer delight on his little face, I have no doubt he will love reading the story.

  • Easy to read

I bought it as my granddaughter who is called Sophie and she loves reading, I found that it was easy for her to read as the words are big and not to much on the page for her to get bored with. Sophie said thank you as she thought you made this book especially for her. I also thought it was good value for the money.

  • Fabulous children's book

Bought this for my 5 year old grandson as he loved the TV version that was on at Christmas. He was delighted with the book.
