  • Great Science in a Fiction Story

I live for the Science channel and follow closely all the developments on technologies that will lead us to future planet exploration. My favorite part of this movie is the sequence when the landing vehicle is encased in giant balloon-like structure for the hard landing. That structure is the exact landing technology developed for a Mars landing. Surely, with that much forethought about the hard landing, NASA engineers will not let the astronauts bounce around like B-B's in a box car though. This movie would have been better if the script writers had thought that through as well. At any rate with Val Kilmer, Simon Baker and Benjamen Bratt - what's not to love?
