Compact, fast, and great image quality.
I needed a wide angle to standard zoom for my Nikon D7100 to save having to carry three lenses but needed it to have a large aperture for those low light conditions, and to be able to use fast shutter speeds. The Nikon equivalent was prohibitively expensive so read some very positive reviews on this lens as an alternative. Now, having tried it, I found the hype was correct, This lens is pin sharp even wide open at f2.8 which is quite unusual, and offers the same image quality as any of my Nikon lenses. This lens does not have image stabilisation, or VR and I think at these focal lengths it is is an unnecessary complication, merely adding to the cost, size and weight. There is no built in autofocus motor, instead relying on the one in the camera. AF speed is fast and accurate. Good bang for buck
A wee bit soft wide open at F2.8 but F4 onwards it's very sharp. Build quality is excellent and the image stabilisation system works perfectly. A lot bigger and heavier than the non-VC version.
