Driving Miss Daisy (VHS, 1990)
Jessica Tandy is excellent as Daisy Werthan, an aging Jewish Woman in late 1940's Atlanta. She is a strong willed woman but lately things are starting to slip a little. Her son Boolie (Dan Aykroyd) owns a textile mill in Atlanta and is a very wealthy and well respected business man. One day his mom gets into the car and instead of reverse she goes forward and demolishes the car. Luckily, she wasn't injured. Having recognized all the signs of old age, and ignoring all of her protests, he hires her a chauffeur Hoke Colburn (Morgan Freeman). Holk is a black man who drove trucks for a large Atlanta dairy for years. He is now retired and has worked as a chauffeur to a retired judge and friend of Boolie. Miss Daisy gives him hell, even accusing him of stealing food from her pantry. She would rather walk than to give up her independence, but Hoke presists and a real battle of wills takes place. Eventually, seeing the senselessness in her struggle, she mellows. Over the coming years, Miss Daisy and Hoke become friends as he continues to drive her through a succession of different automobiles. She teaches him to read and in the end they find true respect and affection for one another.

A movie to truly remember.
What a great movie! Bought it to enjoy the Hudson and other classic cars in the flick, then fell in love with the message! Top shelf acting all around, significant story.

Awesome!
I heard this movie was a winner. It certainly is. It's one of the best movies I've seen. There's growth in the characters and deptth in the plot. Jessica Tandy is amazing in all her movies. Her friend and driver in this movie is also awesome. I feel richer having watched this movie.

I like everything about this movie. I has such a great plot. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! If you like an old own to earth moie you have to see this movie. For all ages and those young at heart too :)
