Additional Information
Director Juan Antonio Bayona follows up his critically acclaimed feature debut THE ORPHANAGE with this drama set during the 2004 Thailand tsunami, detailing one family's incredible fight for survival. Inspired by actual events, The Impossible finds Henry (Ewan McGregor), his wife Maria (Naomi Watts), and their three sons lounging poolside at a scenic Thailand resort following an eventful Christmas. But just as the family begins to forget their troubles and settle in for a relaxing tropical getaway, one of the worst natural disasters in modern history changes their lives in the blink of an eye. Meanwhile, as shock gives way to abject horror, the devoted parents fight to protect their children, encountering scenes of heart-wrenching tragedy and experiencing acts of incredible compassion as the entire country is engulfed in chaos. Tom Hollander and Geraldine Chaplin co-star.
Reviews
New York Observer - Put a staggering accomplishment called THE IMPOSSIBLE, from Spanish director J. A. Bayona, at the top of the season's must-see list., St. Louis Post-Dispatch - Perilous incidents have riveted audiences since Pauline was tied to the railroad tracks, but in the hundred-year history of cinema, few thrillers have been as emotionally compelling as THE IMPOSSIBLE., Chicago Sun-Times - Here is a searing film of human tragedy.

Item was just as described (near new) and I had excellent communication with this seller. The item arrived much sooner than expected, which was a nice surprise. The only downside was the item could have been packaged better as the packaging was torn in places, exposing the the dust jacket of the book when I received it. Overall, a positive transaction.

Very Relistic For This Part of The World

I actually live in the Philippines for 9 months of the year which ain't that far from the location of this film, and i can say these disasters are quite common in this part of the world, and i found this film very realistic, and could relate to what i was seeing.. Yeah a very good film, and i am sure most people would enjoy it...

  • Incredibly realistic fillm

I will never part with this wonderful film. No news bulletin told me the story of whar the people went through like this film did . I felt as if I was there with them as they fought for the lives of themselves and those they loved. The acting by all was superb - the direction and editing could not have been better. We watched it twice in a matter of days and can't wait to see it again . Yes - it is harrowing at times - lots of times - but that is how iit was and you become part of the family as you watch their individual and joint fight for life on that dreadful day. It is a love story really. - the love of man and woman,- parents for their children ( their babies) and - m ost beautifully told - the love of the children for one another as well as their parents. Buy it and keep it to ...

  • Perfect fit.

The Impossible is a great film realistic and sad in places remembering that it is based on an actual family that suffered the horrific Tsunami in 2004.
