Excellent value for money
I own Fladen Chieftain beachcaster for well over 20 years and will not change to a different rod. Unless you need to cast a far distance, you would need to look for a different rod. The chieftain is an all rounder with fantastic bite detection and can cast a heavy load. The quality is outstanding, even after 20 years of use, there is no wear on the rod and rings. I had to buy a new one as I broke 1 of mine. The Price is Right!
Sturdy, light-weight, sensitive, and certainly gets you out there. The only build quality issue that I had was the the smaller end section became loose fitting very quickly, and actually parted company whilst casting one time. This was easily rectified with a lick of textured paint, and was soon back in the game. The same issue was had with my other Chieftain, so it wasn't a one off. Despite this temporary setback I was soon pulling in a four foot Conger no problem. I now have a brace of decent beachcasters that didn't empty my wallet.Sturdy, light-weight, sensitive, and certainly gets you out there.
