Contacted seller who replied promptly that they can be used on either side by rotating the piston. Fitted struts (YouTube video - Mazorov Auto) and tailgate automatic opening restored. However, after a few weeks tailgate wouldn’t open automatically -struts had failed. Contacted seller again who promptly supplied replacement struts without charge. Excellent service + great communications from seller!
