This movie is more of a shock film than anything. Your provided with every taboo and fetish you can possibly imagine. This film takes you to a whole new level of "what the f*** did I just watch?" Great movie if you like movies that make absolutely no sense but you just enjoy the cinema of it. Anyone who claims this is an enlightening movie, or it is art, or it has a meaning is high. If you like movies like this another couple to check out are Salo: 120 of Sodom and Ken Park. All weird movies that really dont make a whole lot of sense but definitely worth watching.
When I bought this, I had heard it described as 'disturbing' and 'sick'. I was disappointed to find it rather tame and poorly made. This was a made-for-TV movie in Japan and didn't have the largest budget; but when the boom mic drifts into frame in at least 2 or 3 scenes, that seems just lazy to me. The soundfx are annoying too. Everything is the same volume level so something way on the other side of the room sounds just as loud as the man walking in the foreground and they both seem to be three inches away from your ear. The movie in general is an exaggerated look at the family dynamic, with a comment on the absurdity of reality television. The bottom line is that the message of the movie, as well as the way they tell it is just dull. It's not worth your time. The story synopsis makes it sound like it's a real shock-fest, but it really isn't. You have been warned. If anyone's wondering: in the nude scenes, 'downstairs' is always mosaic-censored. I have no idea why so many other people like this movie.Read full review
This is one of Takashi Miike's best work. I don't want to spoil the movie by going in depth with a review. All I can say is it is brilliant, funny, pathetic, and a bit shocking. A masterpiece.

I bought Visitor Q a couple of weeks ago and it was well worth it! I have wanted this DVD for a long time and it was no disappointment. If you are a Takashi Miike (Ichi the Killer, Audition, Imprint) fan like myself, than you will be pleased with this controversial black comedy. A film that starts with the question "Have you ever done it with your dad?" is bound to be a film that is a little different! This film contains scenes of incest, necrophilia, drug use, lactation sex, abuse, and is just a very bizzare film. If you are into extreme Japanese cult films, Visitor Q is a must-own!
This movie is absolutly nuts, but what Takashi Miike film isnt? All i can say is watch it and see for yourself. Not for the weak of mind, heart, or stomach.
