The good: The Motorola Z6c offers good quality and support for both CDMA and GSM bands. The design is easy to use, and the feature set includes stereo Bluetooth and 3G capability. The bad: The Motorola Z6c GSM roaming comes with several restrictions. Also, its call-volume level could be louder and the streaming video quality was unremarkable. The bottom line: Armed with a slider design and good quality, the CDM and GSM Motorola Z6c is an ideal choice for the global Verizon Wireless customer. No matter what any CDMA advocate tells you, the technology has one big disadvantage over GSM: Far fewer countries around the world use it. So no matter how great Verizon Wireless' network is in the United States, that doesn't help you when you travel to the majority of the planet. Yet Verizon is beginning to take notice of this fact and has begun to offer dual-mode cell phones that use the carrier's extensive CDMA coverage in the United States and then switch to GSM networks when abroad. Earlier this year Verizon introduced the Rim BlackBerry 8830 for the globetrotting executive, and now it offers the Motorola Z6c for a more mainstream audience. Styled like a Moto Rizr phone--though not officially part of the Rizr family--the Z6c offers everything you expect from a V Cast handset but with the added bonus of the GSM coverage. That extra functionality will come at a price; the Z6c is $229 with service, but you can get it for $179 if you buy it online.Read full review
For all of us who do not like to flip open a phone, this is a great choice. I tried a few phones since the original chocolate and none have worked as well as this one. The speaker phone is easily accessible and works great. The outside casing is solid with a good feel (it won't slip out of your hands easily). An added bonus is the raised clear bar at the bottom of the screen which makes opening the phone remarkably easy without having to put finger print over the screen. Reception i have found is good in all areas. The only negative i have is the lack of an option to keep talking after closing the slider. This can be circumvented by answering a call with the cover closed or calling with the speaker button on, then closing and turning the speaker off.
I have a Verizon Droid 1 that does not support international roaming. Thus when I began traveling to Europe in 2010 for work I kept getting a loaner from Verizon and it was this model phone. I loved it. Used it on 2 separate trips and worked flawless for the purpose of having an operational phone. Since I anticipate having to return to Europe regularly and I won't be eligible for a Droid 2 International for quite sometime, I decided to just buy the phone. Simple to use, non-nonsense phone for calls, allows you to use a micro SD card, decent camera phone. One thing that I will add, this phone does REQUIRE a SIM card to be used on a GSM network outside the US. Sellers might not be aware of this and thus do not mention it in their descriptions because most Verizon phones don't use SIM cards. But keep in mind, this is a WORLD EDITION phone for a reason. The slot for the SIM card is UNDER the slot for the MicroSD card next to the battery slot.Read full review
I wanted to buy and try a sliding model phone so I was looking at this phone here in ebay, placed my bid and won it and have it now. I like it much better than some flip models, mine holds good to excellent battery life. It does want to try to shut off maybe once in a great while by itself, dont know why, that would be the only downfall I found to this day with mine. It could hold more txt's but I still like the phone. It's very fast especially with the memory card that it came with, it could be a tad louder for the earphone but it all depends on where you are at I guess. Overall, if I do part with it, I want to get a keyboard model since I txt a lot, otherwise I like my Z6C
I moved from AT&T to Verizon for better coverage in Northern New Hampshire. With AT&T I had a Motorola Z9 slide phone and wanted to keep GSM capabilities and Motorola style and functions. I also didn't want a 2 year contract. I went with the Z6c because it's both CDMA and GSM. I would rate the quality of the phone at about 6 where the Z9 was a 10. The call quality is good. It's a smaller lighter phone than the Z9. You can get email and go online but the screen is very small. It's a good basic cell phone and they are getting hard to find. I didn't want a $30 a month data plan on top of my cell bill.
