Avid Hunters: Play! Non-avid Hunters: Stay away!
Genre: Hunting Objective / Purpose of game: Clearly this is a hunting game. Cabela's series of hunting games have been entertaining and encompass a wide range of adventures from Fishing to Hunting to Sledding, these guys know they're stuff. You set off as a new hunter, select and customize a character, choose a difficulty mode and then move on to Open Season or Adventures. Adventures is more goal-oriented; to progress through the game, you must complete hunts. Open season is, well, open season. If we're strictly talking about the plot or the point of this game, there is none. It's just raw hunting. Sound: Sound is delayed. Every sound you hear is about a second behind the actual action; this means that if a wolf attacks you, the noise won't occur until it's too late. You must be on ... Graphics: Graphics are obviously outdated. The Playstation 2 does not possess the same graphics as the latest generation but even so, given the time period of the graphics, they are extremely jagged. The hunter himself seems to be fine but the animals and environment are rough. Also, the animals are not well defined at some points so it may difficult to identify them as well. Controls: Standard. Right analog controls view, left analog controls movement, R2 enables scope, R1 is the fire button, X is the confirm button and triangle is the opposite reaction of the X button. Crouch is the circle. Easy enough. Appeal: This is not necessarily a game that I would play through, regardless of how much I love hunting games. This is more of a pick up, put down game. You can leave off whenever or where ever and pick it up later not having to worry about much. Needless to say, it may lose your interest in the beginning of the game. The appeal is mediocre at best. Again, Cabela still holds strong on the best hunting series for game systems but there is still much that can be improved on. Personal Opinion: For avid gaming hunters, this is the game for you. You won't have to invest time and you can play it as you want. As a personal opinion, and a non-avid gaming hunter, I would not purchase this game for more than $5.00, simply because it would not entertain me for long and it would not engross me like other games would. You may spend a couple hours hunting and then decide it's not worth the time anymore. It may not even be worth buying, you may want to borrow or rent it first. It's up to you. Silas Canebridge Group

good game
I got this for my 8 year old son, who just loves it. It is not greusome or violent, he has learned about different hunting type animals and a lot about alaska. Initially, I was hesistant about getting it, so we rented it first and decided it was o.k. for his age. My son loves fishing and the outdoors, so he enjoys this game.

I love all the cabelas games and they have come a long way from the first one, but on this one the the game goes to a hole new level. It challenges you like a real hunt, more so than the others before. the detail of the game is by far my favorite thing. The fishing is great to. But I am ine for detail. I decided to buy this one because I liked all the cabelas games before and i wanted to add this on to my collection.I love all the cabelas games and they have come a long way from the first one, but on this one the the game goes to a hole new level.
