i can neither say i was, or was not a morrissey fan. i really wasn't aware of his music. had heard the name but knew nothing about him (or the smiths) until my partner introduced me, slowly, to a few tracks. i then discovered the world of morrissey is vast and diverse. i was lent various albums and some were made up for me (by means i will not go into ;o) but this one i thought was a damn good all rounder. i have a copy but there is nothing like owning an original :o) this album i find very 'singalongable' especially when i am driving.
As a fan of the Smiths and Morrissey, it is no surprise that I love this album. The album is mostly ballads, but very Morrissey. I will keep this short. My favourite song on the album is 'You Know I Couldn't Last'. A sad, song, poignant, with the beautiful sound of the piano during the verses, yet the guitars of the chorus prevents it from becoming too soppy, and brings in the rock element. Basically an excellent Morrissey album. Recommended for anyone wanting to start listening to him.
this cd is lucky to have not been frizbeed into the nearest pile of dormouse micturation i could find. first in the gang to die is brilliant and if it had been the first song on the album then the remaining dreck would be the biggest comedown ever. i love morrissey but i certainly dont love this.
