I recently purchased this modem & a better router after constantly having issues with our Wi-Fi at home. We have a family of 5 & we do not use cable, we use streaming through Roku. We typically have 5-6 devices, or more, using the Wi-Fi & our previous modem & router provided unreliable service. I always do my research before making a purchase, especially when it comes to techy stuff. I made this purchase based upon recommendations from tech gurus, user reviews, and belief they would meet our needs. I am very happy to say this combo has reduced the stress level in my household significantly & we have very good coverage in our 2200 square foot home now. I can shop online AND watch Netflix while my husband is on his phone, my youngest son is on his Xbox, and my oldest son is playing game on his massive, personally built computer without any interruptions.Read full review

I asked called my service provider and we attempted to get my internet to connect to the modem (in conjunction with a router that I already had). The router worked perfectly fine. The provider was unable to connect to the modem. It cycled through the symbols but the green globe symbol flashed a few times but did not stay lit. That was the only symbol that did not want to come on. The provider said they could not connect to it. The device will be returned.

The router performs well, is DOCSIS 3 standard, IPv6 compatible, and offers channel 8x4 bonding. The price is reasonable as well. There are newer models out there, with more channels, which some people may benefit from (if their isp uses more channels), but for most people this model will be sufficient. Plus there is talk that the DOCSIS standard is being upgraded again soon, so smart money says to buy cheap for now, then spend the money on an upgrade to the new standard when it becomes available in your area... Unless you have money to blow, or feel the need to have the best of the best at all times. But again, for most people, the benefits of more channels, if any are noticed, will be negligible. I'm on Time Warner, and in my area they only use 8x4 channels anyway, so this model is a perfect solution. I have been using my old surfboard an 5100 series for many years, even tho it's only single channel, and no longer listed as an officially supported device by my isp. The truth is that I performed just fine, and the only benefit that this 6141 offers is that it maintains my bandwidth speed during peak hours (the old one lost about 20% on its worst day, usually 10% avg, for a couple hours a day), and slightly less jitter (ping fluctuation). For many people these benefits would not be noticeable, but if you game, Skype, or use VoIP phone service, you might notice a slight improvement. If you only web browse and play netflix, you probably won't notice any benefits, other than the slight occasional spped loss, and can hold off until the new standard is released, then spend the money on an upgrade.Read full review

It was pretty easy to set up for my part, but it took 2 TWC techs about 3 hrs to get it up and running with just ELP service. It replaced their SB6183, and I have no complaints about the actual function of the modem, just that they (Motorola or Arris) went overboard with the LEDs. I have to close the door to the computer room so it doesn't put a light show in my bedroom when I want to sleep. The SB6183's lights were much less intrusive.

I was having Internet problems with my Time Warner cable account. It would shut down, and become very slow. I was resetting the modem everyday. I read advice on a forum that suggested upgrading to DOCIS 3.0. I found this modem which is approved by time Warner cable. Plugged the modem in, contacted Time Warner service. In a few minutes they had my Modem on line and operating. The results are fantastic. My Internet is fast, snappy. I run Net Flix, Sling TV, and two computers at the same time. Very satisfied. Wish I had this modem years ago. Highly recommended. As a note, ARRIS also has a modem with built in WiFi. I'm already thinking of getting that although the one i have is great with my old two channel WiFi router. High recommended
