  • Mixed feelings

The information that Mr. Mills presents is quite useful, and some of it corrects previous misconceptions. The photographs are spectacular and the book is presented in a conversational style, so it is easy to read. It is loaded with mis-punctuations and grammatical errors which, for me, somewhat reduced its impact. Others who've read it disagree with me, but it appears that such is the case because of their own personal lack of grammatical savoir-faire.

  • Good information

Good solid information and great photos. I misplaced the copy I had, and replaced it with another.

  • The Ultimate Gibson Flathead Banjo Book!

This is really the best documentation of the pre WWII Gibson Mastertone Flathead banjos. The photography is excellent and the descriptions and anecdotal information is priceless. Jim Mills is a great player who knows more about these old Gibson banjos than anyone out there. A wonderfully well written book, full of eye candy, facts--- and highly recommended!!
